The streaming music service Spotify presented its new Spotify Kids application, aimed especially at children from three years of age and who can use the Premium Family Plan users at no additional cost.
Among its main differences with the main application, the children’s version does not include advertisements since it is part of the Premium Family Plan and adds privacy and parental control functions.
The Spotify Kids application is available as of Wednesday in beta for iOS and Android, although for the moment only in Ireland, and then it will expand to the rest of the markets in which the Spotify family plan is offered.
The new Spotify application has features specially adapted for the little ones, such as singalongs, soundtracks and stories to discover and explore. The content shown is manually selected by publishers.
Among its main differences with the main application, the version for children does not include ads – since it is part of the Premium Family Plan – and adds privacy and parental control functions, allowing parents to choose the option of ‘Audio for younger children’ or ‘Audio for older children’ depending on age.
According to Scott Cooper Miami’s education blog, “In addition, Spotify Kids allows features such as listening to favorite content with the user account, using the browse option to discover music and stories, listening to playlists for children and playing songs offline – initially only on iOS.“
“Spotify Kids is based on a completely personalized world, full of sound, shape and color, where our young listeners can start enjoying music and audio stories for life,” explained the Chief Premium Business Officer of Spotify Alex Norstrom.
