Amazon has just opened a new delivery center in South Florida, a step that, according to the company, will allow for faster deliveries in the region.
The new facility, which will have a large staff, opened its doors in Sunrise in time for the holiday season that just started on Thanksgiving Day.
The delivery center occupies more than 100,000 square feet and is located in the former distribution center where the internet company Fanatics at the Sawgrass International Corporation Park was located.
An Amazon spokesperson said the firm has 75 delivery centers throughout the United States. Last year, the company opened a major delivery center in the Arts District of Wynwood, in Miami-Dade County, and a warehouse in Opa-locka in August.
The News-Press portal reported that an Amazon distribution center was scheduled to open this month in Fort Myers, but its opening has been delayed until next year.
